Nestled in North Park on Oregon Street sits Garfield Elementary, a public school serving students from pre-kindergarten to fifth Grade. Originally built in 1913, the school has gone through major changes over the years including a recent remodel that offers students a newer building design and modern equipment and supplies.
With a total enrollment just under 360 students, class sizes for kindergarten through third grade are kept to a maximum of 20 students in order to ensure individual attention. While the school may be small in size, the staff puts a big emphasis on community. Garfield offers students an inclusion model for instruction, meaning that both English language learners and special education students are mainstreamed into the regular classroom. The model promotes inclusion and maximizes opportunity for each student’s academic and social development.
In addition to an inclusive academic environment, Garfield also enjoys plenty of outdoor space and offers multiple jungle gyms, paved courts and a sports field. The campus is also secure, with all perimeter gates closed once school starts and a new security door installed at the front entrance.
Over the years, improvements to the school and its staff have made the school even better, seen in a sizeable leap on standardized test schools. For a centrally located option with a diverse offering, Garfield is the perfect fit.

Garfield Elementary The teachers are extremely committed, and engage the children to learn in a friendly atmosphere. We are very happy to have our daughter enrolled here. We moved from back east last year.
