GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

University City High School has proven to be a decent school in my experience, although that may be because I stay out of trouble. There are fights that I hear happen, the fire alarm goes off at least once a week because of vaping in bathrooms, and some students hate the teachers. Nevertheless, given you don't go out looking for trouble, it can be a fun enough time.

I would like to see increased safety around the school, such as when crossing the street. The roads nearby allow for cars to go at very high speeds and several accidents have occurred in the past. There should also be stricter regulations on what students do on campus, because there is still a very large vaping problem.

The teachers are engaging and care about helping students. We are properly prepared for college and many students get into their top universities. The administration, especially the principal, is very willing to hear out student problems and work with them on solving them. I have personally come to the principal with problems about the lack of vegan options in the cafeteria and we sat down and found a solution to it.

My straight A’s older daughter went through UC High school and it was a mediocre school. Too many students with good grades that they don’t appreciate or help out to get into good colleges. We parents had to help out our teenager at the last few months for college applications because the teachers a...

This school is not really worth transferring to if you're out of the way. I would not recommend going to this school versus your neighborhood school. My neighborhood school is probably better than UC. UC is very mediocre and the teachers make the experience worse.

I like the leadership! My concern is how are they going to keep kids safe with so many entrances to this school? One security guard in a golf cart? Whaaat? Sooo many students. This district needs to wake up.

The Principal does not listen but mostly talks in generalities and finds it easier to excuse the unprofessional behavior of some the teachers than take any real action. I used to think that this was a pretty good school but now see less and less accountability in some of the teachers and our school...
