SLOHS is a vibrant school in the city of San Luis Obispo. In the surrounding area, SLOHS is the best school. But compared to the wealthy towns of SoCal, SLOHS can't quite keep up. A large problem I have noticed is the counseling, where certain counselors are unfit for their job and don't quite fit students' needs.

I like the flexibility and diversity of classes. Between electives, extra circulars, and AP classes, one can have a balanced life at San Luis Obispo High School

Nice teachers, but the Water Polo team gets away with too much and admin plays politics too much. The school has a lot of funding, so most of the programs are above average on a nationwide scale, but the environment, clubs, course offerings, and administration are not amazing in terms of preparation for applying to and attending an elite college. You will have to do a lot of work on your own if you are aiming for these schools (overburdened counselors, few alum who attended T20s).

As a parent of a recently graduated senior and an incoming sophomore at SLHS, I can give an accurate portrayal if the school. Both of my children have had a good experience at this school. They have been treated fairly and respectfully by teachers and coaches of their respective classes and sports....
