As part of the desirable Scottsdale Unified School District, Navajo Elementary serves pre-kindergarten and full-day kindergarten through fifth grade for the Chaparral neighborhood in South Scottsdale. And with a dedication to a STEAM learning environment, the school aspires to help all of its 300+ students explore and discover every day.
Proving kids are never too young to learn, the school promotes accelerated math in grades three to five and offers LEGO engineering programs starting as early as kindergarten that encourage students to explore robotics.
In addition to Head Start and gifted programs, students can jump-start their personal development with extracurricular arts, glee, band, dance, soccer and even yoga. Navajo Elementary also participates in free before- and after-school care programs.
As for overall school performance, Navajo Elementary School students have tested significantly higher than Arizona’s state average in both math and reading scores but have performed lower than other schools in its own district.
According to U.S. News & World Report, Navajo ranks among the top 30% of elementary schools in the state and has a student-teacher ratio of 14:1, which is better than other schools in its district. The Arizona Educational Foundation also has rated Navajo Elementary as an A+ School of Excellence (2016).
