The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.
The Test Score Rating reflects annual state test results for this school compared with scores statewide.

It's a great school for the location, and the faculty truly care about getting students ready for the world. I was able to find my own academic groove with the help and support of the teachers.

I love the teachers, and that they care about their students and how they each learn. They are always there when I need them. I like how all the office staff is very helpful.

South Portland High School has been a wonderful place to learn, because of both how wonderful the teachers are, and how beautiful the building is. This year, luckily, the system has been switched to a 1-100 scale with semesters, making the lives of all the students much simpler.
