As the only high school in Sparta Area Schools, Sparta Senior High School prepares ninth through 12th grade students for future academic and career success. The student population is relatively small compared to other high schools in Kent County, allowing Sparta area students to form close relationships and get individual support from teachers. The staff is committed to continuous improvement and welcomes all students to this Kent Intermediate School District Schools of Choice institution. Honors classes, advanced placement courses and a Concurrent Enrollment program with Ferris State University help prepare students for college. A career internship program and classes at the Kent Career Technical Center help students advance toward a technical career after graduation. World languages, drama, music and competitions through the Michigan Competitive Bands Association are just a few examples of the opportunities that await prospective students of Sparta Senior High School. Spartan student-athletes compete in the Ottawa-Kent Blue Athletic Conference in multiple sports, but football games consistently draw community attention. Thanks to a large new stadium constructed in 2018, community members can enjoy watching their Spartans from a modern, accessible arena.

Overall Sparta was an amazing school for me. It is a very close community, and the students get together really well, especially for sports and our homecoming (which is one of the best in Michigan).

I moved my girls to Sparta, one was a Sophomore and the other a 8th grader. This has been a great experience for both my girls and myself. My Sophomore was barely passing, to C’s or above. My younger daughter now a Sophomore, is thriving. Best decision I made.

This is a good quality school. I love the small town values and teachers who truly love their job. I think that Sparta should offer more advanced and AP classes. The more advanced classes should start at an earlier age to allow kids to get the most of their K-12 experience and be better prepared for...
