St. Mary’s is a Catholic school serving children in transitional kindergarten (TK) through eighth grade. It also provides preschool and after-school programs. The school’s mission is to lead children in the life of Jesus Christ and provide a Catholic education to the children of St. Mary’s Parish.
What began as a small school in the early 1900s now sees about 325 children each year as they prepare for their sacraments, attend weekly mass and learn about their Catholic heritage and culture. Students are encouraged to recognize and choose Christian values.
Academics include English, mathematics, literature and music. The athletic programs rely on parent volunteers and offer a variety of sports, which are organized through the Parochial Athletic League (PAL).
Other enrichment activities for children include choir, altar service and STEM. Hot lunch is offered at the school, with a weekly menu.
St. Mary’s Parish school is adjacent to St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the East Sacramento Little League fields and has a long-standing tradition of serving local families. Admission must be applied for and is not guaranteed.

I have two children (Kindergarten and Preschool) at the school and both are excited to go to school and learn. All the teachers we have had or that we have encountered have been incredible. Field trips and special events are scheduled regularly throughout the year and this helps with student engagement. The teachers at St Marys have high expectations of the children. STAR assessments are performed several times a year and show the students always meet or exceed grade-level. The teachers are very sensitive to student's mental health and frequently communication with parents. I appreciate how the school feels like we are all one big community.
