The St. Paul Lutheran School at 846 N. Menard Ave., has been serving the community of Austin for over 135 years to provide preschoolers through eighth grade students a faith-based education where children's social, emotional and academic needs are met. Partnering with the St. Paul Lutheran Church to instill ethical and religious values, St. Paul Lutheran School prioritizes children's spiritual growth through prayer and service. The school promotes an academic foundation in math, thinking skills and collaboration. Independent projects are also encouraged. Split-grade classrooms engage in group and teacher led discussions. STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) is supported with iPads in first through fourth grades. Game-based education apps are also available to make learning fun and engaging. Middle school students complete service hours and projects for the community. Parent Ambassadors also organize charity drives to fund school field trips. Extracurricular activities include band, choir, computer instruction basketball volleyball, and track and field, according to the school’s website.
