There is a very low rate of bullying amongst the students. Children are taught to respect each other. There is an amount of peer pressure, but it doesn't seem to have affected my daughter. There are a number of ethnic students (black, Asian, Hispanic) and all seem to have been incorporated into the social groups at the school.

I cannot comment on what I have not seen. Durant does not have metal detectors or student ID's and, so far, there hasn't seemed to be a need for them in this part of the state. I have not witnessed undercover police/security, drug/contraband sweeps or security cameras, and I cannot say they do not happen or aren't present. I feel very safe having my daughter attend Durant. The staff is very aware of who is in and around the building and are very engaged in the safety of their students.
