For over half a century, Brockett Elementary School has been educating children and encouraging their growth. Opening in 1961, Brock currently serves over 400 pre-kindergarten through fifth grade students. The school has a high ranking for academic progress, proof that the school’s reputation for having a nurturing environment pays off.
Brockett’s curriculum includes reading and math initiatives that help encourage growth in these two key areas. The school also offers a monthly Engineering for a Day program where kids in all classes focus on design and engineering principles, sparking an interest in how things work and, potentially, leading to careers in engineering.
Beyond the classroom, Brockett Bobcats can get involved in a wide variety of extracurricular activities. Whether a child is into dancing, knitting, walking, gardening or bird watching, there’s a club for everyone. Academic organizations are also an option, with Jr. Beta Club, math and science clubs and much more. Explore journalism with the Brockett Today Morning News, yearbook club or photography club. There’s even a partnership with Tucker High School for a mentoring club, where kids can learn from high school students. Leadership needs to improve. There is little to no follow up or follow through on parental concerns. The leadership seems disconnected from the staff and community. The teachers are good and seem to be doing the best they can. I do love the small school feel.
