With a mission to develop lifelong learners and peacebuilders, Laguna Elementary serves more than 300 students in kindergarten through sixth grade as a public school in the Flowing Wells Unified School District.
In addition to a core curriculum, the school integrates rotating physical education classes and fine arts into the regular lesson calendar. While students in kindergarten through fourth grade can learn about pitch and instruments in music classes, older students in fifth and sixth grades can take band and orchestra classes. Those with vocal talents and interests can sing in the Longhorn Choir, which performs at school events and local festivals.
When it comes to fitness, the school sponsors a bike club and annual sports competitions. In addition, aspiring athletes can garner Laguna Longhorn spirit in a range of team sports including basketball, flag football, volleyball, elementary track and cross country.
Other activities include student council, a gifted program for students in the 97th percentile and above, and a before- and after-school care program where students can participate in homework time, arts and crafts or other recreational activities.
