From academic intelligence to physical health, comprehensive learning is paramount at Carnegie Elementary School. This public elementary school was founded in 1958 and while it welcomes over 400 students through its doors, class sizes still average 13 students per teacher. Students are called to “Rise to Excellence” within a supportive learning environment. Science, technology, engineering, art and math all play an important role in shaping the core curriculum at Carnegie Elementary. Students apply learned principles to real-life connections and hands-on projects. The school even has its very own STEAM lab where students can participate in these engaging activities. Reading is also highly regarded here. The school hosts a program where students can read with dogs in a relaxed environment that builds their reading confidence. Carnegie Elementary believes in the importance of educating the whole child—academically, socially, physically and emotionally. The school encourages students and their families to live active lifestyles, even building in time during the school week for yoga and other movement. Carnegie Elementary also engages students with visual art and music classes. Clubs, such as chess and student council, are also available for students to participate in. At Carnegie Elementary, students are developed in all ways, preparing them for their life and learning ahead.

This school attracts good teachers that care about kids. The culture...
