Solid Foundation Preparatory Academy is a private Christian elementary school with a focus on the arts. The school was established in 2004 and serves students pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. It focuses on a rigorous academic program through ABEKA, a biblically-based curriculum.
In August 2021, Solid Foundation shifted gears to put more of an emphasis on the arts. While students still learn core subjects – reading, language arts, math, science and social studies – they also have the opportunity to specialize in art disciplines like visual arts, dance, theater, vocal music, drumming and piano.
There is a small student body of only 46 students and five instructors with advanced degrees, creating a 12:1 student-teacher ratio, which is below the national average. Students received an individualized educational experience, setting them up to continue to grow and excel in their futures. Many students go on to attend high-caliber schools like Cascia Hall, Edison Preparatory and Booker T. Washington.
In addition to practicing various art disciplines, students are able to participate in a number of community projects, an economics and entrepreneurship program, and an annual talent showcase for charity. Tutoring, chess and other activities are provided for an hour and a half every day after school.
