Named after Rose Lee Hardy, who served as the Assistant Superintendent of D.C. Public Schools from 1925 until 1932, Hardy Middle is a highly rated public school located in the heart of Georgetown. Enrolling approximately 500 students in Grades 6-8, Hardy Middle proudly welcomes a diverse student body. Comprised of in-boundary, military, diplomatic and out-of-boundary students who apply via a lottery system, Hardy pupils hail from all over the nation's capital and the world. In addition to its core curriculum, Hardy Middle offers foreign language instruction in Spanish, Italian and Chinese and a school-wide enrichment model for advanced learners. Pre-AP courses are taught in partnership with Wilson High School. Hardy's highly acclaimed instrumental music program, which has ushered students onto the stage at the Kennedy Center, is unparalleled in the D.C. metro area. Hardy Hawks also enjoy a variety of electives, sports and extracurriculars, including archery, Battle of the Books, cheerleading, debate club, football, lacrosse, robotics, rocketry, soccer and tutoring. Thanks to its small size, dedicated faculty and the support of families, the Hawks' pride soars at Hardy Middle School.

I did not enjoy my time at this school there was very poor school-parent communication. Also, they did not take into account my 504 for the entire year so this school almost made me redo a grade because the people there were not do ing their jobs.

I rate Hardy as a Great Middle School. It reflects, embraces, and has built the character of the school around the diversity of DC. There is no other middle school in DC with the breadth and depth of course offerings as Hardy. It is a smaller school while still having enough students for all student...

Wonderful school -- so much to say but also the stats on this website are so out of date it's laughable. Go take a tour to learn what's actually happening today. I think the stats here on great schools are from at least 10 years ago.

I think students should be able to use their backpacks to carry their books . I mean isn't that what backpacks are for! So now I am out with my daughter buying a bag for her books that she shouldn't need because she has a perfectly good backpack!

A hidden gem in DCPS. It's small size and committed staff means everyone knows your child. Both the administration and the teachers are very involved in making your child's education their top priority. Administration is outside the school both before and after to both greet your child and see them...
