In 2014, Woodland Hills Elementary School was officially selected as a California Distinguished School. This is a prestigious honor that is only awarded to 5% of schools in the state of California each year. Woodland Hills is a designated School for Advanced Studies (SAS) and the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program meets the needs of gifted students through a differentiated curriculum that employs depth, complexity, acceleration and academic rigor. They emphasize critical thinking, problem solving and creativity, while focusing on the social and emotional needs of their gifted students.
