GreatSchools Rating

Source: GreatSchools
GreatSchools Rating
The GreatSchools Rating helps parents compare schools within a state based on a variety of school quality indicators and provides a helpful picture of how effectively each school serves all of its students. Ratings are on a scale of 1 (below average) to 10 (above average) and can include test scores, college readiness, academic progress, advanced courses, equity, discipline and attendance data. We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process.

I enjoy the close connections between students and teachers that come with going to a smaller school. I have gone here off and on since I was a kid and have been able to grow up with a small group of classmates which I enjoy.

Overall it is a pretty good school. They have had recent remodeling as well as new programs. the main problem I have with it is they waited til Im graduating.

There are the average sports programs available. Most seem underfunded and in need of gear. The gym is a trapezoid that was built in the 60s that has not been renovated since. There are options for after school activities but money is difficult to raise because it is a small school and community so money is tight and goes to only a few programs easily. My experience with sports participation was a relatively good one. I felt like I was apart of a team and valued as a member.

Teachers take FOREVER in addressing kids concerns or helping them....forever, as in, months. Teachers are highly unapproachable. The discrimination that is allowed between students is appalling.

YCHS is an absolute joke. Don't send your children here unless you want them to be woefully unprepared throughout life. Pay a little out of pocket, and send them to Mac or to Gaston. It will be worth it in the long run for your child's education.

This school is a mess! I just recently graduated from here and I'm so glad I have this giant catastrophe of inefficiency behind me. It takes forever to do anything and the administration and counselors (the counselors are the absolute worst) do nothing to help you. Toward the end of senior year ever...

YCHS is a joke. I skipped school every single day and they still gave me my diploma a year early. The staff doesn't know how and doesn't discipline you for anything. Not to mention staff picks favorites so if you're on a teachers good side nothing will happen to you. Our textbooks are atleast 10 yea...
