Nestled on the southern side of Seattle's Central District, Atlantic is a hub for outdoor activities with proximity to a plethora of amenities. Atlantic, which is sometimes referred to as Judkins Park in certain areas after the expansive park in the heart of the neighborhood, is part of Seattle's Central District, just minutes away from downtown. Much of the neighborhood is residential, with sidewalk-lined streets peppered with towering trees that provide plenty of shade during a morning or afternoon walk. The community offers an assortment of housing options for prospective residents, from classic craftsman homes built in the early 1900s that can cost anywhere between $850,000 up to $1 million to newly built contemporary homes. There is an abundance of luxury town houses, many of which are newly built and feature modern interior appliances and spacious floor plans.

There is plenty of outdoor activities at your fingertips while living in the Atlantic neighborhood. Residents are not only minutes away from the sandy shores of Lake Washington and the many beaches along the shoreline, but there's plenty to do within the community as well. Judkins Park is a popular spot for people in the area, whether you're going for a leisurely walk or bringing the kids to the playground to burn off some energy. The 6-acre park has several wide-open fields for athletic use, as well as a spray park to cool off during the summertime. In addition to Pratt Park and Wisteria Park on the neighborhood's northern end, residents are close to the expansive 15-acre Sam Smith Park and Jimi Hendrix Park, which honors the late Seattle-native rockstar.

Parents living in the Atlantic area will likely enroll their children in schools in the Seattle Public Schools district. Some students will start their education at Bailey Gatzert Elementary before attending Washington Middle School. An "A" rated school according to Niche, Washington Middle School has served the community since 1907 and not only offers various after-school programs for children, including year-round athletic programs, but also has an on-site student wellness center. Next up is Garfield High School, home of the Bulldogs. Garfield High offers a College & Career Center for its student body that helps them prepare for their next steps after graduation.

Atlantic is home to several community centers and gathering places, from cultural centers to the Pratt Fine Arts Center which hosts art classes and workshops for everything from blacksmithing to painting. Next to Jimi Hendrix Park is the Northwest African American Museum, which offers a rotating schedule of exhibits on African-American history and art and events throughout the year. The community also sponsors several P-Patches, where residents can grow their own produce or plants.

Residents who commute have quick access to Interstate 90, which can connect to I-5 to the west or the Homer Hadley Memorial Bridge to the east. There is also ample public transportation along the main thoroughfares of Rainier Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Way. You won't have to go downtown to get a good meal, though, as there is a wealth of dining options around the neighborhood. Whether you're in the mood for a fried catfish sandwich from Jackson's Catfish Corner, pho from Moonlight Café, or just a slice of pizza from Humble Pie, there are many options.

We also advise parents to visit schools, consider other information on school performance and programs, and consider family needs as part of the school selection process. Rent is extremely high and not controlled. Houses that look like nothing are being sold for top dollar due to demand.
