Los Ranchitos translates to “the little ranches,” and it’s no wonder with all of the ranch-style homes lining the streets of this Tucson suburb. “It’s a nice neighborhood close to the freeway, so travel is easy,” says Karla Medina, a local Realtor with HomeSmart. “And it’s not just accessible; it’s growing, too. And it's also full of really nice, down-to-earth, hardworking people.”
Single-family homes typically range from about $140,000 to $225,000 and they generally measure between 700 and 1,400 square feet. Most were built in the 1970s and 1980s, with lot sizes ranging from 4,000 square feet to a quarter of an acre. There are also a number of manufactured homes for sale in the neighborhood.
Los Ranchitos students can attend Los Niños Elementary School, which emphasizes the multicultural arts and aims to create a tight-knit atmosphere. Gallego Intermediate Fine Arts Magnet School received a B- rating from Niche and has about 800 students with a student-teacher ratio of 20 to 1. Desert View High School also received a B minus rating from Niche and offers AP, Dual Enrollment and CTE (Career and Technical) education courses.
Get your daily dose of fresh air at Augie Acuna Los Ninos Park, which boasts amenities like sports courts, a playground and a pool. Start a pickup game on the basketball court or grill up a picnic at one of the pavilions. Cyclists will love the easy access to the Julian Wash Greenway, a path also frequented by joggers, dog walkers and wildlife enthusiasts.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite, pull up a chair at Cattletown Steakhouse & Saloon, where you can enjoy everything from steak to seafood while surrounded by Wild West-themed decor. Los Pochos Sports Bar has the complete package: a full bar, flat-screen televisions, pool tables and karaoke. Don’t miss the live bands on Saturdays and test your skills with some friendly games in the outdoor beer garden. There’s also no shortage of food trucks in Los Ranchitos if you’re looking for a quick lunch, like La Loma Z and El Mezquite Taqueria. Grab your groceries from Circle K or Mercado Y Carniceria Mi Ranchito, which locals love for its quality meat cuts and affordable prices.
Outdoor lovers will enjoy close proximity to Tucson Lazydays KOA Resort, which has a camp store, multiple pools and a pet park. Chow down at the on-site BBQ Rush Restaurant, tee up at the put put course or take your little ones to challenge themselves on the climbing wall. The nearby Tucson Expo Center is an impressive event facility that hosts everything from trade shows and concerts to fairs and conferences.
Residents of Los Ranchitos have easy access to Interstate 10, and it’s a short drive 3 miles south to the Tucson International Airport and 8 miles northwest to Downtown Tucson.
