Longstanding businesses and tranquil suburbs make up the community of Williston Park. The town has maintained a strong sense of community since its inception in the early 20th century. "It's a very family-based community," says Maryann Milovcic, a local broker with Douglas Elliman Real Estate who has over a decade of real estate experience. "I grew up in Williston Park, and I have great memories from there." People care about locally owned restaurants in Williston Park
Some of the area's businesses have been around since the early 20th century. A community effort saved Hildebrandt's, one of the area’s staples, from closing. "This place is very important to the community; I used to come here all the time as a kid," says Zack Sarf, one of the Hildebrandt's new owners. "Hildebrant's almost shut down before we took over. We had some renovations, but still have the jukebox and stuff to make our own candy." Williston Townhouse Diner is another longstanding establishment, a classic diner dishing out hearty portions of American dishes. Newer establishments have also made a splash in the community, such as Rock n Roots Vegan Eatery, offering various vegan and health-conscious dishes and products. Patrons can order out for pizza or eat in one of the booths in Spuntino. Ceriello Fine Foods is one local option for specialty products and groceries. At the same time, national franchises like H-Mart are located east down Hillside Avenue.

There’s Halloween parade in the community
The Village of Williston Park has multiple events, frequently hosted at either the Thomas Muldoon Gazebo or the Kelleher Field. Every Halloween, costumed parents and children march around the village and enjoy festivities in Kelleher Field for the Ragamuffin Halloween Parade.

The award-winning Mineola and Herricks Union Free School District serve the community's public school students. Local students' journeys begin at primary schools like Center Street Elementary. This school has a stellar A-plus rating from Niche and teaches from kindergarten through fifth grade. Students progress to intermediate and secondary schools, such as Herricks Middle and High School. Both schools have overall A-plus ratings according to Niche. Herricks High has high average SAT and ACT scores and received the National Blue Ribbon award in 2017 for its overall excellence.

Residents can easily walk around the community; sidewalks provide cyclists and joggers with a fairly traversable landscape. Public transportation is always pretty close by. Bus stops are available along Willis and Hillside Avenue. Commuters ride the rain from East Williston Station to New York City, all in less than 40 minutes. Though it’s less than one square mile, the combination of excellent schools, proximity to transit, and tranquil suburban streets continues to draw people to make a home in Williston Park.
