Winter Park is located just a few minutes from Orlando and was once a winter resort, as its name implies. It is now a city with many amenities year round. It has many parks and museums as well as recreational activities. The home resale market is strong, with home values and sale prices increasing over the past several years. A number of new communities and homes are under construction or already available in the city, most of them single family homes.
Retirees, professionals and families are often the demographics of people drawn to Winter Park. There are a wide variety of types and styles of homes in the area to accommodate many needs. Bear Gully Pointe is a neighborhood on the east side of Winter Park which features custom built homes on large lots. The surroundings highlight the natural landscape with lots of trees and a spring fed lake. Another neighborhood located on the eastern side of the city is Lake Knowles Terrace. The homes in the neighborhood are diverse. The community started building in the 1950s and new home construction continues, adding to its eclectic mix. It is a highly sought after single family home community. Another Winter Park Neighborhood is the Via’s area of Old Winter Park, which is an impressive community lined with oak trees. Touting some of the most beautiful real estate of central Florida, a home in the Via’s area comes with access to the Chain of Lakes boat ramp. Other neighborhoods, such as Maitland Shores offer more housing variety with single family homes and condominiums.
As part of the Orlando area, it is no surprise that Walt Disney World is the area’s largest employer. It is an enormous enterprise, with over 50,000 employees. The Orange County Public Schools also provides the area with over 50,000 jobs. Many of the next top employers are in the healthcare industry, with Adventist Health, Florida Hospital and Orlando Regional Healthcare System combining to employ over 40,000 people.
