Why Live in Indian Hill

Tucked along Worcester's northern edge next to Holden, Indian Hill is a quiet residential neighborhood shaped by the city's industrial past. Much of the housing went up in the early 1900s as company homes for workers at the Norton Company, an abrasives and machine tool manufacturer once headquartered in nearby Greendale. The area was laid out to feel more like a village than a factory town, and that character has stuck around. Homes here follow classic New England styles, including small cottages, bungalows, Cape Cods and Colonial Revivals, set on grassy lots with mature trees. A handful of newer builds from the 2000s are mixed in as well. Just south, nearly 200-acre Indian Lake anchors much of the neighborhood's outdoor life, with sunbathing at Shore Park, swimming at Indian Lake Beach and boat access at Morgan Landing. Closer to home, residents can hike the wooded trails at Bonvenzi Park and Nick's Woods or play ball at Indian Hill Park. Worcester Public Schools serves the area, along with the highly rated private Bancroft School. Getting around takes a car, with Interstate 190 providing a quick route to Downtown Worcester about 6 miles south.
