Residents also enjoy shows and NBA games at the Spectrum Center, events at the Charlotte Convention Center, and exhibitions at the Nascar Hall of Fame. The neighborhood has several more museums as well, including the Museum of Illusions and the Mint Art Museum.

Marshall Park, The Green and the Charlotte Rail Trail
Marshall Park offers an escape during the workday, with paths, a duck pond and skyline views. "People like to go and walk around Marshall Park across from the aquatic center. There's a lot of corporate jobs around here, so people will meet at the park to eat on their lunch break," Accor says. Locals also take their midday strolls at The Green, a book-themed park with literary-themed references on its sculptures, benches and signs. From Second Ward, residents can also enter the Charlotte Rail Trail, part of an 11-mile paved multi-use pedestrian trail through the city. The rail trail has artwork, shops and restaurants where visitors can stop along the way. For more recreation, the Mecklenburg Aquatic Center has an Olympic-size lap pool, heated pool, outdoor pools and more open to the public.

High-rise units can cost in the millions
Housing in Charlotte's Second Ward is almost entirely made up of condos and apartments, with nearly 80% of the residents renting their homes. Condo units may start in the mid-$300,000s for a 1-bedroom, while larger luxury units in high rises with updated furnishings can range up to $3 million. "As far as jobs, the area is more professional. You have some high-rise condos, but you'd have to drive outside the main city area for houses," Accor says.
