Mountain ranges encircle this small town
Shadowed by mountains to the east and Chattanooga to the west, Ooltewah Center isn't quite the suburbs and it isn't quite the countryside, either. "If I had to describe Ooltewah in one word, it would be ‘community,’" says Evan Barron, a Realtor with eXp Realty. “Ooltewah feels like a charming mini-town.” With its share of parks, a commercial segment featuring national brands and local favorites and clusters of homes ranging from traditional ranch-styles on larger lots to more modern offerings, Ooltewah Center connects its residents to their needs.

A diverse array of homes give buyers options to choose from
Residential development in Ooltewah surged at the end of the 20th century, and the town’s growth has led to a wide range of architectural styles. "Prospective buyers have plenty of options here,” Barron says. “It's really diverse when it comes to views and house styles.” Classic Tennessee architecture, including ranch houses, bungalows and cottages, meet contemporary properties. Duplexes sell for about $275,000 to about $320,000 on the north side of the neighborhood. Subdivisions offer architecturally diverse homes, with features ranging from stucco exteriors to domed entryways and Tudor-style gabled roofs. These examples have sold for around $300,000 to about $350,000. Older homes– generally smaller, with two or three bedrooms– sell for about $250,000 to $330,000. One enclave to the north end of the neighborhood features larger homes, selling for between $650,000 and around $1.2 million

Students may attend Hamilton County public schools
Students in Ooltewah Center are zoned in the Hamilton County School District, and students can follow the Ooltewah pipeline. Students may attend Ooltewah Elementary, graded A-minus by Niche; Ooltewah Middle School, graded B; and Ooltewah High School, graded B-minus. Home to the Owls, OHS was established in 1907. Its student-run digital media program is called HootTube.
After Elementary school many students will attend Ooltewah Middle in Ooltewah Center.

Cambridge Square functions as the town center
Interstate 75 borders the neighborhood, linking it to Chattanooga. Shopping centers, like Cambridge Square in the north center of the neighborhood, offer big-box stores like Walmart and Food City. "Cambridge Square is kind of the town center,” Barron says. “We have a lot of locally owned restaurants and retail stores. I like how it's set up.” Locals can pick up bouquets at Valley Flowers, sample flights from Wine Down Bistro or grab dessert from Tasty Scoops & Sweets, all without leaving Cambridge Square. On the other side of town is another locally-owned restaurant: Ooltewah Whistle Stop, a vintage-inspired café that serves classic Southern comfort food, including fried green tomatoes, homestyle mac and cheese and hearty soups.
Whistle Stop is a Ooltewah Center favorite for decadent milkshakes, sandwiches, and train spotting.
You'll meet many locals perusing the shops at Cambridge Square.

A giant nature park is right outside of town
One of the biggest draws for nature lovers is the Enterprise South Nature Park, which spans 2,800 wooded acres and offers hiking trails, biking and horseback riding paths and a paved road for scenic drives. Leashed pets are allowed throughout the park, and a wildlife viewing platform allows visitors to spot birds and animals at Hidden Lake. Enterprise South also provides year-round community events and programs. For Halloween, the park holds spooky nighttime hikes and mystery campouts, and in the spring, marathons and mountain bike races draw competitors and spectators from across the state.
Aside from Enterprise South, Ooltewah Center has several pocket parks with playgrounds, picnic tables and pickleball courts, including one in the center of Cambridge Square. "In the warmer months, Cambridge Square becomes a community gathering spot," says Barron.

The town center is walkable, but most residents need a car to get around
Ooltewah Center has walkable parts of town, but most residents will require a car to get around. The neighborhood is just under 20 miles from Chattanooga and driving between the two takes between 25 and 35 minutes on average.
