Lakefront activities

Residents have a few options if they want to spend time outdoors. A short drive north is Lake Brandt Marina, where locals can explore the hundreds of acres of the scenic lake. The marina offers kayak, canoe and paddleboard rentals throughout the summer. "The lake is a major draw," says Real Estate Agent Zelma Holyfield. "People come from all over Greensboro to enjoy the lakes in this area." Those who wish to enjoy the lake from the sidelines can trek one of the many trails that run along the shoreline, like the Piedmont Trail. The woodsy path is just under three miles long, boasts water views and offers peeks at Northern Greensboro’s abundant wildlife. The Piedmont Trail eventually leads hikers to Bur-Mil Park, just a few miles from North Hills. Bur-Mil sits next to Lake Brandt and covers 250 acres, featuring ample recreational amenities for the whole family. Visitors can soak in views of the water on the park’s pier, play a few matches of tennis or let the kids play on the playground. Another park highlight includes the aquatic center with a large swimming pool and fun water equipment to beat the heat during the warmer months.
