Thinking about making a move to Indianapolis? You'll have plenty of options, whether you want to buy a home in the city or the suburbs. With culture both high and low, from the fine arts museums to professional sports teams, there's a lot to like about life in Indianapolis. Add to that plenty of green, natural spaces, a robust local economy, and easy access to the rest of the country via its central location, this is a great city to consider building your life in.

Sports fans sometimes like to be within a short drive of the Indiana Pacers and Colts' venues, (check out some homes for sale within 2 miles of Lucas Oil Stadium), and nature enthusiasts love being by the many beautiful parks that you'll find in Indianapolis. For those who enjoy attending performing arts events, buying a home in a neighborhood close by the Indiana Repertory Theatre or the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra might be a smart play. Downtown neighborhoods that have earned solid reputations include Old Northside, Cottage Home, and Lockerbie Square. Those who like to spend much of their time dining out at night will be pleased to experience the growing restaurant empire of local foodie players like Martha Hoover, and to enjoy the food on offer at area favorites like Patachou, pizza at Bazbeaux, or the classic St. Elmo Steak House. One of the great things about life in Indianapolis is that you'll be near places for day trips, like Lafayette and Fort Wayne. In Lafayette, it's fun to spend time at Wea Creak Orchard or enjoy a wine tasting at Wild Creek Winery. In Fort Wayne, visitors can take in the lush seasonal displays and stunning tropical garden at the Botanical Conservancy there. Fort Wayne also boasts an amazing art museum, as well as the nine days of arts celebrations, live music and tons of fun for the whole family that is the annual Three Rivers Festival.

When you live in Indianapolis, the weather remains fairly pleasant, and the hottest it gets in the city is in the mid 80's during summertime. In winter, temperatures sometimes reach the high 30's, but not often. Indianapolis' mild and pleasurable climate make it a great place for living year round. Fall is beautiful in the city and you'll enjoy a changing of the leaves from green to red and gold, just like in pictures and on postcards. Jobs are plentiful thanks to major corporations who call Indianapolis home, including pharmaceutical manufacturer Eli Lilly and Company, and health insurance provider Anthem. There are typically reasonably priced homes on the market in desirable neighborhoods such as Pike Township near Indiana University-Purdue University, and Butler Tarkington, near the campus of Butler University.
