Quiet Oahu enclave of Aiea

Named after an endemic plant whose flowers were once used to make leis, Aiea gives off small-town vibes with big city draws. Aiea was once one of Oahu’s largest sugar mills, but it underwent major housing and commercial development in the late 1950s, with many of the homes from the original build still standing today. Located in southeast Oahu and a stone’s throw away from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Aiea’s proximity to other military bases and locations such as Downtown Honolulu make it an attractive place to live. This neighborhood has not lost its strong sense of community, and it shows in the number of homegrown shops and restaurants that have the continued support of locals. Nearby, residents can get medical care from the Straub Medical Center. Aiea offers a quiet place to grow roots while remaining close to the other beautiful destinations Oahu offers.
