Suburb-like, minutes from downtown
Only blocks from St. Peter’s Hospital and Albany Medical Center and 3 miles from Downtown Albany and the New York State Capitol, the Whitehall neighborhood is convenient for anyone employed in the city’s center. “Most people who live in Whitehall work for a hospital or the state,” says Realtor Janet Glaude with Howard Hanna Real Estate Services. “If you want to live nearby but not downtown, Whitehall offers a more suburban setting that’s still very close to everything.” With streets that dead end, boulevards with landscaped medians and neatly built suburban homes evenly spaced from each other, Whitehall is the closest city dwellers can get to the suburbs without living in the suburbs.
Whitehall has a suburban feel but located less then 4 miles to downtown Albany.
St Peter's has 442 beds making it one of the larges hospitals in the capital region.

Homes with vintage character
Built mainly between 1930 and 1960, homes in Whitehall include charming split-level or ranch-style houses with bay windows, brick and wood-framed Cape Cods, Dutch-style colonials with boiler heating systems and Craftsman-style bungalows with enclosed front porches and deep backyards. “These are not cookie-cutter homes,” Glaude says. “They have vintage character, like archways and decorative stained-glass windows, details millennials often look for because they’re nostalgic and convey status.” Single-family homes in the neighborhood list for between $150,000 and $450,000. Newer townhouses that feature two-car garages run in the $300,000s. “Homes don’t stay on the market long and often receive multiple offers,” Glaude says. “So buyers need to act fast.”
