A central suburban community in the northeast heights
Indian Moon is a small residential subdivision buried in the urban sprawl of northeastern Albuquerque. Despite its unique and evocative name, this community often goes unnoticed by area locals. “It’s a pretty niche place. Most people probably wouldn’t even use the name; they’d just say that it’s in the lower northeast heights of the city,” says Real Estate Broker Austin Wolff of The Lovely Home Company, who has 10 years of experience in the area. “It’s close to some trendy areas, but it’s really just a quiet subdivision that draws people in with its centrality.” Quick access to major highways, regional employers and shopping destinations all help make Indian Moon shine bright in the eyes of prospective owners.

Southwestern-inspired ranch-style homes line the streets
The checkerboard residential streets of this neighborhood are lined with stucco-sided single-story houses. “Ranch-style homes built in the 1980s are very common in Indian Moon,” Wolff says. “Some of the ‘80s design choices around here can be a little strange, but overall, it looks like your typical southwestern suburb. There are tall trees all around, and some lots are big enough to have pools in the backyard.” Scattered throughout, prospective buyers will find a few two-story Modern Traditional builds with Spanish tile roofs. Prices can range from about $215,000 to $375,000, depending on the number of bedrooms, square footage and status of any renovations.

Popular landmarks like Owl Cafe are within reach
Residents of Indian Moon can shop for groceries at the Albertsons Market on Lomas Boulevard and can pick up East Asian pantry staples at A-Ri-Rang Oriental Market. They also have multiple choices when stocking up on daily household necessities. “The neighborhood is near the Owl Café, which is a classic diner that’s shaped like an owl,” Wolff says. “It was featured in an episode of Breaking Bad. Other than that, there’s easy access to Target, Costco and Walmart. And my favorite breakfast burritos in the city are at Golden Pride, which is close by as well.”
Eubanks Boulevard connects the community to the interstate
Eubanks Boulevard frames the neighborhood on the eastern side. It is the most direct way to access Interstate 40, the major east-west connector for the area. Eubanks also heads directly south to Kirtland Airforce Base, a large employer in the region. Surface streets like Indian School Road provide alternatives when traveling downtown.
The Sandia Foothills are a short trip east of Indian Moon
Vista Verde Park, located on the east side of the neighborhood, offers a spacious green lawn for family picnics and a small, shaded playground for children. Hikers will enjoy the community’s proximity to the Sandia Foothills. “That area is very close to paths on the east side of Albuquerque,” Wolff says. “It’s a pretty quick trip over to the Piedra Lisa Canyon Loop, and there are a lot of other trailheads people can pick up in the foothills.”
