Georgetown
Suburban Neighborhood in Ann Arbor, Michigan
Washtenaw County 48104
Neighbors have single-family homes and multi-family units available
Much of Georgetown consists of rows of condos, brick-walled townhouses and amenity-filled apartments. However, the streets also contain subdivisions among traffic circles and cul-de-sacs. Beyond the sidewalks are ranch styles and houses with colonial influences. Many of these properties typically have attached garages. Most homes are on single lots, but the suburban-feel and cul-de-sacs help cut down on through traffic despite being right off Packard Street. A detached house can cost a buyer anywhere from $400,000 for a property in need of upgrades to over $600,000 for a renovated home with a finished basement. Condos often range from $225,000 to $275,000 on average. The housing stock is "very competitive when things do come up, which is not all that common," says Veronica Long, a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty.Students attend high-performing schools
Since 1986, Bryant and Pattengill Elementary Schools have been Ann Arbor School District's only paired schools. Clifford E. Byrant Community School accepts students from kindergarten to second grade, while others attend Pattengill School from third to fifth grade. The schools have an A-minus and A grades, respectively, from Niche. These uniquely structured institutions work closely together to provide highly rated education to prepare students for Tappan Middle and Pioneer High, both have A-plus grades from Niche.Greenspaces in and around the community
At Esch Park, locals can meet for a pickup basketball game or a leisurely afternoon among paved pathways for walking and cycling. Stone School Park has five acres of natural wooded area with an unpaved walkway. Residents can find more hiking options at Mary Beth Doyle Park, while Buhr Park invites locals to seasonal ice skating and splash pads.A range of dining, nearby shopping and grocery options
Nearby are a variety of dining options for locals looking to sample the eclectic flavors of the city. "Down the street, we have YORK Ann Arbor; it's a wine store with a deli that serves great sandwiches. York has this big yard with music and art shows," Schroeder says. "Another great restaurant is Ricewood. It started as a food truck. They serve really fantastic barbecue bowls," Schroeder continues. "Biercamp is a really cool scene where you can sit in indoor or outdoor seating. They make their own sausage, cheese and brew beer," Schroeder says. Georgetown doesn't have a grocery store conveniently located in the neighborhood. The area is close to main roads and thoroughfares that take shoppers to Briarwood Mall and other key shopping areas. Residents can head in basically any direction to reach Whole Foods Market, Trader Joe's or Busch's Fresh Food Market within 3 miles. Locals can attend farmers markets, open year around.Traveling by car, bus or bike in Georgetown
Downtown Ann Arbor is only a short commute by car or bus, and Packard Street's bicycle lane gives a pathway to the University of Michigan campus. An interchange for Interstate 94 lies to the south, about 2 miles away. Commuters can find bus stops lined down Packard Street and Eisenhower Parkway. The fairways and greens to the south
Georgetown Country Club offers more than a nine-hole, par 28 golf course. Georgetown Country Club offers more than a nine-hole, par 28 golf course. "We are a semi-private club that requires a membership for the pool. But the golf course, tennis and pickleball courts are open to the public," Schroeder says. The country club was first established in 1970, at the same time the surrounding subdivision was developed.
