Forest Villa is close to Truxtun Park, a large, wooded recreation area along Spa Creek. Truxtun Park has a public swimming pool, baseball fields and courts for tennis, pickleball and basketball. Boaters can dock at Lafayette Waterfront Park or at one of the wharfs along Spa Creek. Highways and public transportation in the Annapolis area
West Street, also known as State Route 450, extends east-west across Forest Villa and connects the community to downtown Annapolis. The Annapolis Department of Transportation (ADOT) buses serve the area, including a free downtown shuttle which stops along West Street. Drivers can take U.S. Route 50 westward to Washington, D.C., and eastward across the Chesapeake Bay. “Traffic is generally moderate; it’s not as bad as Baltimore,” Akindoyo says. “You’re not sitting in it forever.” Forest Villa and downtown Annapolis also have bike lanes and pedestrian-friendly streets. The nearest train station is about 20 miles west, where commuters to Washington, D.C., and Baltimore can hop aboard a Maryland Area Regional Commuter (MARC) train. The Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport is also about 20 miles away.
