North Arlington has convenience between Dallas and Fort Worth

Just off Interstate 30 and halfway between Fort Worth and Dallas, North Arlington is a popular commuter area that's near everyday necessities and entertainment venues. Home options here range from apartment complexes and condos to spacious suburban houses in subdivisions, offering a variety for residents at a wide range of price points. North Arlington locals are a quick drive from AT&T Stadium and Globe Life Field, River Legacy Park's extensive trail system, and everyday shopping and dining along Collins Street, which makes this sprawling suburban area convenient and desirable.

Many apartment complexes and a nice selection of suburban homes

Apartments make up most of the residences in North Arlington, with many large complexes serving renters. "A bunch of old apartments that have been there since the '70s are getting redone," says Kelsey Hicks, Arlington native and Realtor at Austin Realty Consultants. A handful of condo complexes are nearby, with units selling for between $100,000 and $300,000. Subdivisions with single-family homes also wind throughout the area, with common styles including ramblers with front-facing garages and New Traditional homes with red brick or stone facades. Towering trees shade the wide residential streets, and many yards have wooden or wrought-iron fences. Most properties cost between $300,000 and $700,000, but some larger homes can range over $1 million. "There are some really high-end homes on the north side of 30," Hicks says, noting that many of these properties were built in the '90s. "When your home is that kind of home, you're putting money into it to update and do things," she says.
Village Creek Water Reclamation Facility, a water treatment plant, borders the western side of North Arlington. Homes near the plant can be impacted by unpleasant odors.

Students in the Arlington ISD have school choice

Students living in the neighborhood and attending the Arlington Independent School District may begin at Sherrod Elementary School, which has a C grade from Niche, or Ellis Elementary School, which has a C-plus grade. Neighborhood students are zoned to continue to B-minus-rated Nichols Junior High School and B-rated Lamar High School. The high school has undergone significant renovations in recent years, with the project including a new activity center, renovated culinary labs and upgraded art and technology spaces. Although students have assigned neighborhood schools, Arlington ISD is an open district, meaning students can transfer to any school within the district that has space. However, bussing is usually only available for students attending their zoned schools.

Casual dining off Collins Street and major entertainment venues nearby

North Collins Street goes through North Arlington and is lined with stores like Whole Foods Market and Walmart, chain restaurants like Starbucks and Whataburger, and cozy local sports like Piccolo Mondo, an Italian restaurant with a piano bar. Arlington's entertainment district is just south. Millions of visitors descend on the district each year to watch major league sports teams like the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, ride roller coasters at Six Flags Over Texas, and explore cultural exhibits at the National Medal of Honor Museum and Arlington Museum of Art.

Trails at River Legacy Park and more at Elzie Odom Athletic Center

River Legacy Park spans 1,300 acres in North Arlington and has 8 miles of hiking trails and 10 miles of mountain biking trails. This scenic park runs alongside the Trinity River and through wetlands and prairies. The trails also connect around Lake Viridian, and playgrounds and picnic areas invite families to explore the outdoors. "My husband cycles, and he loves the trails. We've talked about buying houses near the trails, and it's an easy sale," Hicks says. For more recreation, Elzie Odom Athletic Center has 60,000 square feet of indoor facilities, including a rock climbing wall, skating rink, and volleyball and basketball courts. Texas Rangers Golf Club is a public, 18-hole course that's also in the neighborhood.

Commuters take Interstate 30 to Dallas and Fort Worth

North Arlington is mostly car-dependent, as the town of Arlington does not have any public transportation system. "There's no buses in Arlington. We've always teased, we have too much rubber and not enough road," Hicks says. Interstate 30 is the southern border of North Arlington, and takes drivers to downtown Fort Worth, 15 miles west, and downtown Dallas, 20 miles east. Texas State Highway 360, on the neighborhood's eastern border, takes drivers 10 miles north to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. Texas Health Arlington Memorial Hospital is just south.
