Audubon Forest is a community in the trees
With its dense tree canopy and bird-named streets, Audubon Forest shows why Atlanta is called the “City in the Forest.” The community is an established residential neighborhood in southwest Atlanta’s Cascade area, near a small commercial district and about 7 miles from downtown Atlanta. “It’s a nice, secluded and well-kept area,” says Robert E. White, a real estate agent with Better Homes and Gardens Metro Brokers who used to live in the area. “There’s a host of things to do, and you're near the Beltline.” Two nature preserves are nearby, offering hiking trails through some of Atlanta’s oldest forests and access to the city-spanning Beltline trail.
Attractive architectural details and welcoming front yards make this a neighborhood where first impressions truly count.
Audubon Forest is surrounded by lush greenery and winding roads, offering a peaceful, private retreat just minutes from the urban energy of Atlanta.

Midcentury ranch-style homes on 1-acre wooded lots
Large, tree-filled lots of an acre or more give the community its forested feel. The ranch-style homes here sit far back from the road, and trees and landscaping separate neighbors, creating a sense of privacy. Most homes were built in the 1950s and ‘60s and feature brick exteriors, basements and paved driveways leading to attached garages or carports. A small subdivision of late 20th-century Colonial Revival-style new traditional homes is in the south. Prices typically range from around $280,000 to $680,000.
Classic brick homes with manicured landscaping give Audubon Forest a timeless and established character.
Midcentury brick ranch homes remain a staple in the area, often on large lots with mature trees and plenty of outdoor space.

Trails through old-growth forests are nearby
The neighborhood is close to two parks that offer hiking trails through old-growth forests. Lionel Hampton-Beecher Hills Nature Preserve is over 100 acres and has three champion trees, a designation for the city’s largest trees. Trails in the park connect to the Beltline trail network that loops around the city. The over 120-acre Cascade Springs Nature Preserve also has champion trees, and its trail passes along a creek with waterfalls. John A. White Park has a more manicured feel, featuring a nine-hole golf course, a public outdoor swimming pool and a playground. A new senior center is being built here that will include a fitness center and an indoor golf simulator.
Go for a walk or hike through the trails at Cascade Springs Nature Preserve.

A district of locally owned restaurants

Nearby grocery stores include Kroger and Nourish and Bloom Market. Walmart and The Home Depot are about 3 miles away.

A quick drive to downtown and the airport
Audubon Forest is a mostly car-reliant community, but MARTA bus stops, bike lanes and sidewalks on Benjamin E. Mays Drive provide other options for getting around. Interstate 285 — also called The Perimeter — is about 3 miles away, and downtown Atlanta is a 7-mile trip. “It’s easy access to the city, and you don’t have to travel on the interstate,” White says. Grady Memorial Hospital is roughly 7 miles away, and Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is an 11-mile trip.
Residents can travel via the red and gold train lines at the MARTA Oakland City station.
