Apartment complexes include The Park at Castleton, Harmony Plaza and Shamrock Gardens. Townhomes and condos typically measure from 1,000 to 1,500 square feet and list from $100,000 to $200,000. The community’s few single-family homes, mostly off Delowe Drive, are mainly mid-century ranch styles with three to four bedrooms. Single-family homes list from $240,000 to $375,000.
Most of the community’s shopping and dining is available near the intersection of Campbellton Road and Delowe Drive. Campbellton Plaza is a large strip mall with service businesses, restaurants and retail stores. Grocery essentials are available at Dollar Tree, and there is a Kroger in the nearby Greenbriar Village shopping plaza. G Town Wings and Fish is a popular restaurant and has a full menu of wings, burgers and fried appetizers.
Parks and green spaces are just outside Campbellton Road. Adams Park, located just north, is the nearest green space. It’s anchored by a large pond where visitors park their cars to enjoy views or walk the designated pathway. The Adams Recreation Center features three outdoor baseball diamonds near the pond. The Alfred Tup Holmes Golf Course takes up most of the park, sprawling from Wilson Drive to Campbellton Road. The Adams Park Library is on Campbellton Road near several public basketball courts and across the street from the Andrew & Walter Young Family YMCA.
Atlanta Public Schools receives an overall B on Niche and serves just over 50,000 students. Cascade Elementary School and Jean Childs Young Middle School have overall Cs on Niche. Benjamin E. Mays High School offers several student clubs and extracurricular activities, ranging from the Blue Essence Step Team and Film Club to the Garden Club and JROTC Drill Team. Niche gives the high school a C.
Campbellton Road is mainly a car-dependent community, but MARTA buses run across its main thoroughfare. Campbellton Road SW connects with U.S. Route 29 to the east and Interstate 285 to the west. The community has direct access to the Arthur B. Langford Junior Parkway. Downtown Atlanta is about 9 miles northeast and home to Grady Memorial Hospital, one of the nearest medical facilities. The Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is about 8 miles south.
