Center Hill is just south of Westside Reservoir Park
Center Hill is an established community around 10 miles from the Atlanta Beltline, a 22-mile trail connecting parks, businesses and neighborhoods. "It's really in the burgeoning area of Atlanta," says broker Kesha Kennedy, who's sold homes for 19 years and owns Legacy South Real Estate Group. "It's a great location in that hub that's ever-growing, ever-changing." Some aspects of the neighborhood are transitioning. For one, the houses are being actively flipped to sell. At the same time, many of Center Hill's residences are still occupied by the same families that have called this area home for generations.
Juli St George, a Realtor and broker associate with Keller Williams Realty Intown Atlanta, says front porch sits, church groups and backyard barbecues are just some ways bonds form here. Neighbors in Center Hill also thrive on political organization, and they participate actively in their neighborhood association. Soul food is plentiful on the highway that runs through the neighborhood. The area is within 6 miles of downtown and city highlights, including The Trap Museum, which honors a style of rap that sprung from Atlanta. Center Hill is also directly south of Westside Reservoir Park, one of the newest large city green spaces.

Center Hill's midcentury modern bungalows
"A lot of those homes are four-sided brick homes, and they have very nice renovations," says Marcus Howell, who's sold homes in the Atlanta area for 10 years and works for Keller Williams Realty Metro Atlanta. "You could basically get an an old neighborhood feel with fresh new renovations." The community’s most vintage homes were built from the 1920s to ‘60s in the midcentury modern bungalow style. There's also a small selection of new properties that have farmhouse elements, including shiplap paneling and exposed beams. Properties tend to price from around $140,000 to $475,000 depending on their age and how much love and care they need. St George says flooding isn't really an issue here, especially since properties here are built along rolling hills. Yards are modest and sometimes capped by small stone walls. Tall trees create ample shade.

Center Hill is small, but it has a lot of churches. Outside of Greater Fair Hill Baptist Church, locals also worship at Salem Bible Church, Mt. Zion Sanctuary Assemblies Church of God 7th Day, Atlanta Berean Seventh-day Adventist Church and Greater Love Temple Ministries. Lincoln Cemetery is in the neighborhood's northern section.
The Center Hill Neighborhood Association meets to discuss community updates and events at Greater Fair Hill Baptist Church the first Thursday of the month. One of the events they recently promoted is the Love Thy Neighbor(Hood) Festival, a tradition in the Atlanta area for 50 years. It's cherished as a time for city leaders and community members to gather and celebrate the city's neighborhoods over live music and food. Center Hill is known for being extremely politically active. "They were prominent with getting the mayor elected," Howell says. "So all politicians make sure they canvass those areas."

Bankhead Highway is home to Bankhead Seafood, one of Atlanta's most beloved Soul food spots. Continental Seafood, Hans Chinese Food and Chicken Wings and Mr. Pig's Smokehouse for barbecue are all on the same highway for a quick bite. Kennedy says The Works, 5 miles north, is a center of nightlife. The mixed-use space offers everything from ax throwing to arcade games to breweries and a food hall with eclectic eats. There's a Walmart Neighborhood Market, Publix, Home Depot, Walgreens and more within 6 miles.
