Surrounding Atlanta’s third-largest park, the Chastain Park neighborhood is located at the northern end of the sought-after, upscale Buckhead Village.
“Obviously, the park is a huge draw to the neighborhood,” says Lindsey Tilley, a Realtor with Ansley Atlanta Real Estate, LLC. “However, one unique thing about Chastain Park is that the neighborhood itself is walkable, which is not always the case in Buckhead.”
Chastain Park
High-end homes with towering trees
Hidden by towering trees, narrow roads are lined with well-maintained sidewalks that allow locals to bike or walk throughout the community. While some mid-rise condos surround the park, most homes are single-family, ranging from expansive ranch-style homes to mansions with gated driveways or iron fences. With additional property space, yards are well-maintained, and it is fairly common to see backyards with pools. Condos will start around the $350,000 mark, while four-bedroom ranch homes may sell for $1.8 million for a four-bedroom. Estate-style homes may sell for $5 million or more.
Atlanta Public Schools get honor-roll marks
Children may attend Jackson Elementary, which has an A-minus grade and a 13-1 student-teacher ratio. Sutton Middle offers clubs and activities from origami to debate, and has a B-plus grade. North Atlanta High School earns an A and is housed in a former IBM office building. With all three schools offering an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, the school community is one of the few in the country that provides a comprehensive IB experience for kindergarten through 12th grade. Private schooling is also an option for parents as Buckhead and the greater Atlanta area offers many options, including the nearby Holy Spirit Prep, a Catholic school for preschool through 12th grade.
A neighborhood anchored by Atlanta's third-largest park
Chastain Park is Atlanta’s third-largest park and has plenty to keep residents busy. The 268-acre park offers traditional amenities like a playground and vast green space, as well as public sports facilities like a swimming pool, tennis courts, gymnasium, walking trails, playgrounds and baseball diamonds. Chastain Park Golf Course, an 18-hole public course, is considered one of Georgia’s best and most-played public tracks. Its horse park is one of the last two remaining urban barns and the country, and its Live Nation venue Cadence Bank Amphitheater offers some of the hottest names in music each summer.
Buckhead shopping district offer boutiques and restaurants
Chastain Park residents can stop at The Chastain, an ever-changing restaurant across from the park’s entrance that begins as a café in the morning before transitioning into a New American restaurant for lunch and dinner, and a brunch spot on the weekend. The Publix at Chastain Square, located off of Roswell Road, offers grocery essentials to keep refrigerators and pantries stocked. At the Buckhead Village shopping mall, shoppers can browse at more than 60 upscale boutiques selling clothing, furniture, accessories, and more.
Community engagement brings community together
The Chastain Park Civic Association (CPCA) fosters community and neighborhood engagements, hosting seasonal events for residents to come together. The community engagement is on full display each Halloween as select roads in the community are shut down from traffic to allow children to celebrate the holiday safely, and parents and children can enjoy a meal from a food truck. If residents want to venture further out into the bustling Buckhead district, they can check out the nearby Buckhead Theater, a Live Nation music venue in an Art Deco space, or The Punchline Comedy Club, Atlanta’s number-one comedy club, to enjoy a night out. The nearby Buckhead Library hosts art exhibits, scavenger hunts, yoga and other community events, while the Atlanta History Center offers access to a 33-acre campus of exhibitions, historic houses, and gardens.
30 minutes from Atlanta
Chastain Park residents can get to I-75 within 4 miles, which will take them to downtown Atlanta within around 30 minutes, and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport within about 40 minutes. The neighborhood is served by the MARTA Route 5 bus, which has several stops along Roswell Road. Northside Hospital is located less than 5 miles northeast of Chastain Park.
