Horizon Uptown is growing with new homes and amenities
Aurora is one of the largest cities in Colorado, and it’s still growing with new master-planned communities like Horizon Uptown. When construction is done, this area will have homes, apartments, retail, offices and extensive walking trails. Residents will also be within walking distance of an elementary school and a fire station. People who move here might be interested in owning a brand-new home, but the convenient amenities and nearby highways make it easier to call Horizon Uptown home.
Apartments, townhouses and homes, with more on the way
So far, the neighborhood has an apartment complex, townhouses and detached single-family homes with Craftsman designs, but D.R. Horton and Meritage Homes are still filling subdivisions with more homes. Jennifer Ramirez, a Realtor with eXp Realty, helped a client find a townhouse in the community. “[Horizon Uptown] has quick access to the highways and downtown, so it was ideal for her commute, but it also has that community she was looking for,” Ramirez says. Of the existing homes, townhouses and duplexes can sell in the upper $300,000s to the lower $500,000s. Detached properties go in the lower $400,000s to the lower $500,000s.
Horizon Uptown has its own elementary school
Horizon Uptown is a part of the Aurora Public Schools district, but young students don’t have to go far for school. Many families can walk or bike along the sidewalk to Coal Creek P-8 school, which is close to the park in the center of the neighborhood.
Walking to the community park with more amenities in the works
Horizon Uptown is designed to give residents the space to explore and hang out steps from home. “The design, it’s really nice, with amenities, a community park and trails,” Ramirez says. The community’s park already has a dog park, playground and paved tennis courts. There are more additions planned to expand the park with more things to do. The public Springhill Golf Course is right next door to the sports park with an 18-hole layout. Residents don’t have to go far to find ways to spend time outside.
It's easy to hop on the highway for commuting
The community is in a quiet part of Aurora’s east side, but residents have straightforward commutes to nearby major hubs. “The Denver International Airport is super close,” Ramirez says. “It’s ideal, because if you live in Denver, you’re commuting a long way. ... Horizon is a really good fit for people who are nurses or pilots, because they travel so much, but it has that community feel.” It takes about 20 minutes to drive up the E-470 toll road to the airport. Driving to shop and dine out, for now
Eventually, Horizon Uptown will have a town center, retail and office spaces, but for now, residents drive out of the neighborhood to shop and dine out. You’re about 10 minutes from the nearest Walmart and chain restaurants on Tower Road. Some people drive around 20 minutes to walk around the Town Center at Aurora mall or visit the surrounding restaurants, like Bua Tasty Thai or the Guadalajara Family Mexican Restaurant.
