Or you can make the 10-mile drive up to the Emma Long Metropolitan Park to go swimming.
The Mayfield Park and Nature Preserve is minutes away for shaded walks past gardens and a 19th-century cottage owned by a former Texas Secretary of State. The preserve is known for the peacocks that roam freely across the grounds, descendants of birds that were gifted to the property’s owners in 1937.
