Old Enfield offers historic charm just west of downtown Austin
Just west of downtown and the University of Texas at Austin, Old Enfield is a historic neighborhood offering single-family housing and condos in a centrally located, tree-lined community. “Old Enfield is a charming, historic area known for its older architecture,” says Realtor Summer Carter with eXp Realty. “A lot of the older, well-established families like that area. It’s more affluent, with historic elegance and architectural diversity. It’s a mixture of families who have been in Austin for a long time and young professionals living in condos, who are living in that community but not necessarily buying mansions. People build their own tight-knit communities in that area.”
Old West Austin is home to several murals which can be found on street corners.

Georgian mansions, Craftsman-style bungalows, Tudor and Colonial Revival homes
Old Enfield’s architectural diversity offers housing options for a variety of budgets. “There are a lot of really expensive houses over there, but also a lot of condos,” Carter says. “There are homes in that area that date back to the early 1900s – Georgian mansions, Craftsman-style bungalows, Tudor and Colonial Revival homes.” Old Enfield has lush, manicured streets with large, meticulously landscaped lawns shaded by sprawling mature trees. Recent sales prices for condos and bungalows range from $800,000 to $1.7 million, while prices for historic and newly built mansions range from $2 million to $6 million. The average home size in Old Enfield is about 3,300 square feet, significantly above the national average.
