A small corner of northeast Baltimore
Loch Raven is a quiet suburban community in northeast Baltimore that is defined by its centrality. “It’s convenient to modern amenities,” says Realtor Robert Breeden, President of Berkshire Hathaway, who’s been selling homes in the neighborhood for six years. “It’s right along Northern Parkway and not too far at all from Belvedere Market or Towsontown Mall.” Loch Raven is small; its meandering streets are lined with clusters of townhouses that sit on small lots and feature yards that are carefully manicured. It’s the kind of place where neighbors sit on their porches in the evenings and enjoy the mid-summer weather. “It’s safe and quiet,” Breeden continues. “There’s a real sense of community here. People are proud of their homes.”

Proud to call Loch Raven home
Prospective homeowners are likely to find themselves in familiar Baltimorean territory. “If you’re towards the city, it’s mostly brick row houses,” Breeden says. Houses sit back from the curb and frequently feature small front yards. Paved sidewalks lead to roofed front porches where residents sit and enjoy the breeze on an August night in Maryland. Prices begin around $150,000 and can rise as high as $285,000 for a fully renovated end unit. “There’s a real pride of ownership in this community,” Breeden continues. “You’ll drive through and see people out there gardening, meticulously maintaining their lawns. It’s that kind of neighborhood and people want to show it.”

The area is quiet and is surrounded by home owners. I would live in the area again.

I like the Loch Raven area because it is relatively safe in comparison to many other inner city areas in Baltimore. Baltimore overall is an expensive place to live with not many opportunities to keep up with the constant rise in the cost of living. But the Loch Raven area to me is one of the nicer areas, while still being affordable.
