Centered around community with large yards in Baltimore
Situated between Belair and Harford Road, the neighborhood of Waltherson in northeast Baltimore, is a residential community surrounded by lots of greenscape, and while self-sufficient, is still close to the amenities of downtown Baltimore. “Waltherson is for people who want to be near the city and its attractions, but who also want a bigger yard and more trees,” says Marc Hagerthey, a long-time area resident and Realtor with RE/MAX. With Walther Avenue running right through the middle of the neighborhood, there are multiple houses of worship, local stores and restaurants and nearby schooling options for younger children. “And it’s all walkable,” says Hagerthey. “You can walk or bike to all the local spots.”
You get the best of both worlds in Waltherson, city living with a suburban vibe.

Homes from the 1930s that have been renovated with original aspects
With most homes built before 1930, some may still include original features such as hardwood flooring, oak staircases and even some original stained-glass windows. The neighborhood has Craftsman, bungalows, Foursquares, Cape Cods and even some Dutch Colonial home styles. Prices for homes can begin around $150,000 for a home in need of interior renovations while recently renovated homes can sell from about $290,000 to $400,000. There are also a few Baltimore brick-style twin homes, as well as houses with Tudor Revival elements, with half-timbering on the exteriors. Established in the midst of these older homes, is Faith Community United Methodist and Grace Lutheran Church-Hamilton, where stone walls and stained glass from the early 20th century still stand. Not all homes will have garages or driveways, so residents may have street parking. Some homes may be hidden behind trees while others bask in the shade provided.

It's relatively safe, but it is near a lot of unsafe areas. The police presence has increased within the past year, but only visually.

Having lived in Hamilton for my whole life, I've seen it change gradually as I've grown up. Although I want to live elsewhere for a while, I would like to live somewhere like my hometown when I do choose to settle down. The atmosphere is generally friendly, and it's secluded and yet still in the city which I like. I do wish it had better public transportation options and that the schools were better.
