Neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland
Baltimore City 21206, 21214

Homes from the 1930s that have been renovated with original aspects
With most homes built before 1930, some may still include original features such as hardwood flooring, oak staircases and even some original stained-glass windows. The neighborhood has Craftsman, bungalows, Foursquares, Cape Cods and even some Dutch Colonial home styles. Prices for homes can begin around $150,000 for a home in need of interior renovations while recently renovated homes can sell from about $290,000 to $400,000. There are also a few Baltimore brick-style twin homes, as well as houses with Tudor Revival elements, with half-timbering on the exteriors. Established in the midst of these older homes, is Faith Community United Methodist and Grace Lutheran Church-Hamilton, where stone walls and stained glass from the early 20th century still stand. Not all homes will have garages or driveways, so residents may have street parking. Some homes may be hidden behind trees while others bask in the shade provided.Herring Run Creek to the south and dog park to the north
While Waltherson doesn’t have any parks within its boundaries, besides a small family cemetery, there are several parks within close proximity. Herring Run Park is about 2 miles to the south along Belair and has 375-acres with trails, a playground and basketball area, as well a creek that makes its way through the park. Burdick Park, with its accompanying dog park, is about a mile to the north.Walk to schools and transportation technologies classes
Children can attend Gardenville Elementary for kindergarten through fifth grade before continuing on to Garrett Heights Elementary/Middle School for sixth through eighth grade. Students may also attend Garrett Heights for kindergarten and continue at the school through eighth grade. Baltimore City Public Schools do not zone for high schools, so families can choose which high school to attend. Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High offers Advanced Placement and Transportation Technologies courses. All three schools receive a C-minus from Niche.Straight shot along Harford to aquarium
Harford Road stretches into the Inner Harbor of downtown Baltimore, about 5 and a half miles south, where the National Aquarium sits on the Patapsco River. Even when visitors to the aquarium aren’t exploring dolphins on the pier, the aquarium has a livestream set up to watch jellyfish and sharks.Bus lines weaving throughout and nearby interstates
There are several bus lines through and around the neighborhood. Most buses come every 30 minutes throughout the day, with the buses coming every 15 minutes during peak hours (typically during the common morning and evening rush hours). Waltherson is about 3 miles from Interstate 695 and 895, to the north and east respectively.Coffee, regional dishes and pineapple salmon tenders
Residents don’t have to go far to run errands, as both Harford and Belair Road, to the north and south respectively, have multiple restaurants and local businesses. On Harford Road, groceries can be found at Royalty Food International Supermarket. Popular haunts, like Zeke’s Coffee and Café Campli’s Italian fare are just a block away from each other. On Belair, shrimp baskets from Grandma CC’s Wings, Fish and Grill, New York-style slices from Gil’s Pizza or PlattaKing’s pineapple chili salmon tenders are always on the menu. Residents can also cross Belair Road to reach ALDI in the Gardenville Shopping Center. Just outside neighborhood boundaries is the Walther Gardens & Nursery, said to have the oldest snow cone stand in the country, a farmhouse built in 1885 and a garden store with everything from flower bulbs in the spring, plant offerings throughout the season and Christmas trees in the winter. On Harford, the locally owned boutique Tortuga sells items made by local artisans and helps to inspire residents to be more sustainable.
