Welcome to Midvale, a small residential enclave just southwest of Wilmington. Here, you'll find tranquil suburban homes, well-rated schools and proximity to an abundance of indoor and outdoor amenities.

If you're looking for classic suburbia, this community is where you'll find it. Developers constructed the neighborhood between the 1960s and 1990s, and it's remained a peaceful residential enclave ever since. Minimal traditional homes, tri-levels and ranches sit back on leafy, green lawns with spacious backyards. In addition to single-family homes, you'll find town houses with lower price points. With the community's position between Baltimore and Philadelphia, buyers can look to the area for a home with significantly lower prices. Town houses will cost around $200,000 and between $300,000 to $500,000 for a single-family home.

Students in the area attend the Colonial School District, including Southern Elementary School. The school has an overall score of B-minus on Niche and supports student success with various online resources. Students have access to math help, tutoring and reading help through the school's web portal. Gunning Bedford Middle School also has an overall B on its Niche report card. The school is known for its visual and performing arts program, with pathways in subjects like graphic art, jazz band and acapella choir. William Penn High School scored an overall B on Niche and prepares students for college by providing counseling sessions starting freshman year. Students can also access financial aid and application assistance in their senior year.

There's unexpected proximity to beaches, forests and various outdoor activities here. You're 2 miles from the sandy shores of Deemer Beach, a popular fishing and sunbathing spot on the banks of the Delaware River. If you're more of a hiker, White Clay Creek State Park is only 10 miles away. There are 37 miles of forested hiking and biking trails interspersed with historical monuments. The park also has scenic fishing streams, an 18-hole disc golf course and a nature center that tells the park's history. When the weather is chilly and you don't want to be outdoors, the Western Family YMCA is just 8 miles away. Take an exercise class, relax in the sauna or shoot hoops in the gymnasium.

While the neighborhood is perfect for residential respite, you're still close to conveniences or necessities, which may be positive or negative depending on preference. You're just 6 miles from Interstate 95, ideal for buyers commuting to Philly, Baltimore or Wilmington. The Wilmington International Airport and Christiana Hospital are both 2 miles away, so all your potential needs are covered. For dining, retail and entertainment, head 5 miles north to Christiana. The Christiana Mall has all your favorite retailers, department stores, a movie theater and restaurants. Various shopping centers surround the mall with big box stores like Target, Costco and REI. You're also only 8 miles from downtown Wilmington, so there's always easy access to live music at The Queen Theater, summer ball games at Frawley Stadium or dinner dates on the riverfront. History buffs will love living so close to New Castle, a charming town with the largest concentration of preserved Colonial buildings in the United States.

Pulaski Highway, which runs through the entire state, is the closest commercial area within the neighborhood. Governor's Square Shopping Center is where you can pick up groceries at ShopRite, borrow a book from the library, or pick up a prescription from Walgreens. Across the highway, Eden Square Shopping Center has more big box stores, a gym and locally loved restaurants. Have an after-work beer and burger at Stewarts Brewing Company or have a night out at Hibachi Japanese Steak House.
