Jeffries Point is a welcoming and walkable neighborhood in East Boston.
Friendly Eastie neighborhood near the airport
The sky is the limit in Jeffries Point, a gorgeous area of East Boston nestled between the harbor and Boston Logan International Airport. Once a port of entry for immigrants in search of the American Dream, the neighborhood is home to stunning buildings, waterside restaurants, leafy parks and friendly neighbors. "Jefferson Point is very eclectic. It's a real blend of the old and the new," says Jamie Cholette, a longtime East Boston resident and the broker/owner of Boston Harbor Real Estate. "You have waterfront and modern amenities combined with a lot of old-school Eastie character." When asked to elaborate on the colloquial nickname, Cholette explains that old-school Eastie describes East Boston's friendly vibe, where the classic and modern happily coexist. Jeffries Point falls into this category with its collection of convivial owner-occupant neighbors. "Residents know each other, and everyone gets along. They walk their dogs together in the parks - everyone has a dog - and many own or work in the local businesses," Cholette says. "The sense of community is different compared to other Boston neighborhoods. It has a local feel to it."
Condo living at a competitive price
Homes in Jeffries Point include classic Boston triple-decker homes, recently renovated mixed-use brick buildings originally constructed in the 1970s, mid-rise condos built in the 2000s, penthouse condominiums with city views and newly constructed luxury properties with upgrades like brass fixtures and shaker cabinetry. "Jeffries Point has quite a mix of inventory," Cholette says. "But there aren't many single-family homes; most have been converted into multi-family condos." Home sizes range from 600 to 2,100 square feet with one to four bedrooms, and list prices span between $400,000 and over $1.2 million. "The price point is still lower than other areas of Boston," Cholette says. "You can still get a bit more square footage for the sales price."

Jet setters en route to Boston Logan International Airport can get there from Jeffries Point by foot. "It's literally a 10-minute walk to terminal A," Cholette says. "It's really convenient for people who travel for work. In fact, some flight crew live in the neighborhood because of the proximity to the airport." Jefferson Point's proximity to downtown Boston and easy access to public transit are also a draw. Multiple bus stops, two Blue Line subway stations and several Boston Water Taxi stops offer locals ways into the city that don't require a car. "Jefferson Point is a great part of Boston for someone who doesn't have or want a car to consider," Cholette says.
