Country Club

Modest colonials with bayside views
Single-family homes in Country Club show off a variety of architectural styles, from simple National designs and brick-face colonials to Cape Cods and bungalows. They all share comfortable suburban features, such as multiple bedrooms and designated parking in driveways, carports or garages, and sell for between $600,000 and $1 million. Larger red-brick multifamily homes start around $1 million and go up to $1.3 million. On Outlook Avenue, gated condominium and townhouse developments extend to the waterfront. Condo units are priced around $600,000, and larger townhouses with boat slips are priced around $1.2 million. Co-ops are rare, and units in a pair of seven-story buildings on the neighborhood’s south side sell for around $250,000. According to Porco-Rosa, lower city taxes are also one of Country Club’s big draws. “We’ve had people move away to Westchester and come back for the lower property taxes,” she says.Old-school Bronx Italian eateries
Dining options are limited to locally owned spots that reflect the neighborhood’s Italian-American history. At the south end, Loretta’s Pizza has been serving pies and slices since 1950, and up north, Nonna’s Deli and Barino’s Market have cold cuts, focaccia sandwiches and family-style catering. For groceries, residents can stock up at the Super Foodtown in neighboring Schuylerville. During the summer, City Island across the bay is a hot spot for bars, restaurants and nightlife.Parades, memorials and Christmas tree lighting in Throggs Neck
When Country Club residents want to connect with their fellow New Yorkers, they can head 2 miles south to the neighborhood of Throggs Neck, which hosts a number of events. Every year, Throggs Neck locals have a Saint Patrick’s Day parade, a 9/11 memorial for local FDNY Engine 72, a Veterans Day parade and a Christmas tree lighting ceremony.Schuylerville and Throggs Neck public schools
In lieu of neighborhood public schools, local students have several nearby options. To the west in Schuylerville, P.S. 14 teaches kindergarten through fifth grade and has a B-minus grade from Niche. South in Throggs Neck, the Urban Institute of Mathematics teaches sixth through eighth grade and has a B grade. And the Herbert H. Lehman High School in Schuylerville also has a B grade.Wooded trails, beaches and golf at Pelham Bay Park
With Pelham Bay Park just north of Country Club, residents can enjoy one of the Bronx’s best public green spaces. Wooded areas, walking paths and a 13-mile shoreline offer natural tranquility, and two golf courses and multiple athletic fields provide outdoor recreation options. Within Country Club, the Evers Marina also gives residents a place to dock their boats.Expressways, express buses and the local 6 train
While Country Club’s remoteness is part of its charm, the neighborhood offers commuters a few options. The Middletown Road and Buhre Avenue 6 train stations are 1 mile west in Schuylerville, and the BxM8 bus stops along Bruckner Boulevard to go into Manhattan. The nearby I-95 Expressway lets drivers easily reach other boroughs or travel upstate.
