Home to Seton Falls Park and Northeastern Bronx YMCA
Seton Falls Park occupies 35 acres in the center of Edenwald. This hilly, forested park is bordered by rows of humble, yet sturdy prewar brick rowhouses, small businesses and schools. The forested grounds of this centralized green space reflect the seasons, allowing nature to mark time in a city dominated by manmade structures. Aside from Seton Falls Park, which also offers playgrounds, dog runs, splash pads and plenty of hiking trails, the Northeast Bronx YMCA is a convenient and family-friendly neighborhood attraction for residents. YMCA members can partake in numerous group classes, swim laps in the pool, hit the weights or de-stress in the sauna. Comprehensive youth sports programs are offered, as well. Residents looking for outdoor recreation may also appreciate being less than a mile from the 3,000 acres of wildlife sanctuary, various recreational areas and the beaches of Pelham Bay Park.Modest rowhouses and single-family homes
Buyers trying to raise families in the city or just entering the hypercompetitive housing market will appreciate being able to buy a three-bedroom, brick-clad rowhouse for under $600,000. Single-family home prices tend to range between $525,000 and just over $1 million. Architectural styles aren’t as varied compared to other areas, but buyers can find a mix of prewar ranches, modest duplexes, multifamily brick colonials and colonial revival cottages. Newly renovated Cape Cod-style townhouses are also available for around $650,000, but some new builds with garages and small backyards list for around $970,000. The west side of Seton Falls Park is bordered by the Edenwald Houses, the Bronx's largest public housing complex, which is currently undergoing a comprehensive multimillion dollar renovation plan that includes infrastructure upgrades, improved landscaping, and new community spaces.Caribbean fare and small Jamaican eateries found throughout the area
Fast food chains and small Jamaican eateries can be found along Boston Road on the neighborhood’s southern and southeastern border, including Fish N’ Ting which serves up rasta pasta and Jamaican-Chinese fusion dishes. There’s also Triple Deuce Restaurant & Grill, which has oxtail and curry goat. More Caribbean fare is north of the park at Stally & Josie’s Caribbean Kitchen, which is known for its jerk chicken. Residents can pick up produce and groceries at Dyre Fish Market, Fine Fare Supermarkets and C Town within the neighborhood. And when residents want to kick back with some cocktails and a night of karaoke they head to Mingles Ultra Lounge.B-plus and C-plus rated schools in the area
For elementary school, students can attend either P.S. 112 Bronxwood or P.S. 111 Seton Falls, both of which receive a C-plus rating from Niche, before moving on to the C-rated Baychester Middle School. New World High School in nearby Wakefield is the closest public high school and receives a B-plus rating from Niche. This nationally-ranked college preparatory school is known for its rigorous curriculum. Many students also attend Cardinal Spellman High School, on the southeast corner of Seton Falls Park, a private Catholic school known for its diversity, engaging teachers, and high graduation rate.Last stop on the 5 train Lexington Avenue Line
Eastchester-Dyre Avenue is the last stop on the 5 train in New York City, which brings residents to Grand Central Station in approximately one hour. Locals on the west side of the neighborhood can also walk four blocks to access the 2 or the 5 train at the 233rd Street Station, which goes into Manhattan. Boston Road cuts diagonally across the neighborhood taking residents into the South Bronx. LaGuardia Airport is approximately 14 miles away.
