Grandview offers river proximity at more affordable prices
Set along the western shore of the Mississippi River, Grandview is a Brooklyn Center neighborhood just south of Riverwood and Firehouse . Primarily residential, the area is just across the river from communities like Fridley, opening the door to various shopping and entertainment options. Lower-than-average real estate prices also create a lot of appeal where proximity to the river is greatly sought after. "Properties can get quite expensive on the river," says Realtor Mark Callender at Re/Max Results. "If you're on the water in Minnesota, you're going to pay a premium no matter where you are."

Midcentury homes, set on largely quarter-acre lots, make up the lion's share of the area. Ranch-style homes feature brick facades, wood siding, and other amenities like finished basements and fenced-in yards. Single-car driveways and attached garages or carports are typical, but sidewalks are not. Depending on size and location, prices range from about $220,000 to $330,000. The median price for a single-family home in Grandview is around $300,000, beneath the Hennepin County median of $410,000. However, Callender points out that prices have been on the rise. “It’s affordable, so sellers are getting multiple offers,” he says. “Competition’s quite high.”
