North Fremont suburb with top schools and Bay Area convenience
Cabrillo, in California’s East Bay, is a desirable community that balances suburban life with desirable commuting access to the big city. Some of the state’s highest-ranked schools are within walking distance of the neighborhood, while some of the most convenient commuter routes to the Bay Area’s big tech hubs are just minutes away. “The schools are the main attraction. Especially the high schools,” says Paul LeJoy, a Realtor with Pacific Realty Partners who has lived in the Bay Area for over two decades. “And there’s also the proximity to Silicon Valley, Google, Tesla, Zoom and Apple are just across the bay. If you’re somebody who works in the tech field and is looking for a place to live, Cabrillo is it.”

Traditional homes and custom landscaping
The neighborhood’s quiet streetscapes have well-paved sidewalks lined with mostly traditional styles and classic ranchers. “It’s mostly established homes built in the 1960s, typically three bedrooms and two baths and 1,100 to 1,500 square feet,” LeJoy says. The properties typically feature private driveways, attached garages and spacious yards, many of which feature custom landscaping that adds to the neighborhood’s curb appeal. Housing prices range from $1 million for a 1,300-square-foot home to $2.6 million for a 2,800-square-foot property. “The Bay Area is expensive, but if you live on this side of the bay, you’re saving hundreds of thousands of dollars on a home,” LeJoy says. “A lot of people work remotely now, so if you live here, you save all that money, plus you have the good schools, and it’s not as crowded as it is on the peninsula.”
