A Centennial community decades in the making
Homestead in the Willows residents rely on their neighbors for support, community and... bread. Now raising a family in nearby Walnut Hills, owner Jeff Nixon advertises micro bakery Spruce House Bread in the Homestead in the Willows HOA newsletter, which updates residents on local building initiatives and makes sure they never miss an upcoming event.
“Living near the place I grew up has been a huge positive for me,” Nixon says. “I can market to the families of the kids who I taught how to swim and people who know me from my time growing up in the neighborhood. A lot of the friends I met at Homestead Elementary School are still around, too. It’s the type of place where everyone walks to school together and keeps an eye on the kids walking home.”
Homestead’s 1970s-era homes
With mature trees providing shade for sidewalk traffic and antique style streetlights scattered throughout, it’s clear that Homestead in the Willows is a community decades in the making. Most homes are split levels and Cape Cod-styles that were first built in the late 1970s. They have since been renovated and extended to include two car garages. Prices for these homes sit between $590,000 and just over $1 million, depending on how many amenities were added. They’re lived-in, yet valuable properties that attract attention from those looking to settle into a true community.
