Slowing down in Centerville

Centerville is a slow-paced suburb south of Macon. The town is a satellite of Warner-Robins, where Robins Air Force Base brings newcomers to the area. Some of those newcomers are looking to slow down in Centerville. “It’s kind of a coffee shop and car wash town,” says Realtor Jamie O’Brien-Moorman with MF Real Estate Firm. “It’s a residential area where there’s very not a lot going on commercially, but it’s close to some larger cities. People are going to Macon and Atlanta for entertainment.” Homes and schools are undoubtedly the main draw of living in Centerville, which has budget-friendly homes and an A-rated school district.

The median sale price is $245,000, a little over half the national figure. “Houses may be more affordable than in other areas, and there are a lot of older homes, but you can get some larger, more recently built homes for a good price,” says O’Brien-Moorman. Homes here mainly consist of traditional single-family homes in midcentury developments or contemporary subdivisions. The city primarily developed between the mid-20th and early 21st centuries, but occasional new construction exists along the outskirts of town.
