Lakeview, formerly known as Lakewood, is a small neighborhood a few miles northwest of Uptown that’s in transition. Buyers looking here are often eyeing new construction or recently renovated homes from the early 20th century. Comparatively lower home prices add to the appeal. With highways close by and the Center City just minutes away, the neighborhood is a convenient spot for commuters and Uptown professionals. Along the wide streets in Lakeview, you’ll mostly find a mix of 1920s bungalows and 1960s ranch-style homes painted in pastel shades, with a few cottages, Cape Cods and Colonial Revivals peppered in. Properties hitting the market are often recently renovated. There’s also a growing number of brand-new builds. “A lot of new development is going on in the area,” says Leslie Dale, a Realtor with Keller Williams Connected, who describes the community as up-and-coming. “We built four houses there. They were sold as investment properties…They were nice: three- and four-bedroom, wonderful kitchens with custom cabinets. The islands are 10 to 12 feet long.”
Many of Lakeview's streets are lined with well maintained bungalows.
There are a variety of architectural styles on each block.
You'll find a few Colonial Revivals sprinkled around the neighborhood.
There are many brick ranch-style homes here.

The median sale price here is around $260,000, significantly below Charlotte ’s median. Home prices start at the lower $200,000s and can reach the upper $300,000s. Whether you’re looking to drive, bike or ride a CATS bus into Uptown, you’ll end up on Rozzelles Ferry Road, a corridor that funnels commuters directly into the Center City, less than 4 miles away. The drive can take under 10 minutes, but you’ll have to contend with rush hour traffic in the morning and evenings. Interstates 85, 77 and 277 are just minutes away to reach destinations around the city, such as Charlotte Douglas International Airport, which is around 6 miles away. The airport is conveniently close for catching flights, but according to the National Transportation Noise Map, you may hear plane noise from the neighborhood.
The closest light rail station is a few miles away.

Neighborhood and choice schools offer interest-based magnet programs
Neighborhood public schools include Thomasboro Academy in Thomasboro-Hoskins, which serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade, and West Charlotte High School in University Park, which offers an International Baccalaureate program. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools students can also apply to a magnet program of their choice through the district’s annual application lottery. Lakeview is mostly industry and housing, but you’ll find restaurants and shops in nearby neighborhoods such as Seversville, Wesley Heights and Ashley Park. “There’s a cute shopping plaza less than a mile away with bakeries, coffee shops, all kinds of stuff like that,” says Katie Hocker, a Realtor with Lake Norman Realty. “The Batch House is a super cute bakery right off Tuckaseegee Road. There are some breweries close to there, too, like Lucky Dog Bark and Brew.” Other local staples include:
