An iconic Charlotte neighborhood
Towering hundreds-year-old trees are all that remains of the farmland that once called Myers Park home, but the winding, shaded, streets lined with historic Colonial and Georgian Revival mansions hint at the peaceful existence that is still home here in one of Charlotte original suburbs. The neighborhood began in the early 1900s when philanthropist Jack Myers inherited 300 acres of farmland south of the city center and decided to work with city planners to create a neighborhood that celebrated natural beauty, architectural craftsmanship and local businesses. The result was one of the most coveted addresses in the city. “Queens Road West is probably the most quintessential, iconic street in Charlotte, and that’s the heart of Myers Park,” says Tracey Cook, a local Realtor with Compass. “Just having the canopy of hundred-year-old oaks and beautiful, old, mainly Georgian homes.” Today, Myers’s vision has been fully realized, with an array of fine homes, scenic public parks, a respected university, and a long list of neighborhood businesses that all come together to form a neighborhood that in 1995 was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Historic Revival-style homes
Along with historic Colonial and Georgian Revival-style dwellings, homebuyers can find Tudor Revivals, quaint cottages, bungalows and ranch-style homes. Zoning changes have attracted new developments, making room for modern builds and luxury condos. Single-family dwellings start around $800,000, but prices can quickly rise, surpassing $6.25 million. Condos offer a more affordable option, with modest one-bedrooms beginning at around $200,000 and large three- to four-bedroom units going for around $3.2 million.

A few doors down sits littleSpoon Eatery, a New American breakfast and lunch spot celebrated for its eclectic menu and tasty coffee. The private Myers Park Country Club is another neighborhood staple, featuring an award-winning clubhouse and an 18-hole course designed by renowned golf course architect Donald Ross. Other popular attractions in the neighborhood include the privately-owned Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary and the historic Duke Mansion, a Colonial Revival-style estate-turned-hotel with a meticulously manicured garden.
